I thought the same thing about cheat codes. I mean, back in GTA: San Andreas, you could make FLYING CARS!! You'd think you could do that in the new GTA, but nope. Only weapons cheats. Yaaaawwwwwwn. The newer games are, the less likely they are to have cheats (especially rpg's, but they never really had cheats to begin with)



Anyways, your work is great, coloring is perfect, your lineart is a bit rough (although that seems to be your style, and it works quite well for the content of your work).

As far as art help goes I would work on anatomy. I recomend getting simplified Anatomy for the Comic book artist it's a great book and it's cheep. It shows how the different muscles work to create the shapes you see; and I think it lends itself to your style well.

I think the whole cheat codes thing died down because of the whole achievement thing; since it wouldn't seem right to give poeple achievements when they may have exploited a cheat in the game (EPIC and Microsoft work hard to keep it like this, even going as far as branding accounts on XBOXs that have done this as cheeters which is viewable to anyone on xbox live.), and even alot of high quality games back in the day did't use them so they became more of a gimik than anything else. Some developers are beginning to go back to them though, more often than not the achievements are deactivated by cheat codes. Another route some developers are doing is having cheat-like unlockables, like the skulls in the Halo games.

yeah i know my anatomy is still a little fucked, books have never realley helped me even if i did have the money... i might just try some muscle structure stuff for practice
you got any coloring advice? or things i can improve on with my coloring style?

and yes im aware of the whole achievement stuff, and i remember that most games back in the day dident have many cheats either but, there were certain games that ALWAYS did ya'know? like rampage and arcade games n stuff......and those types of games dont ever have them now...i just want some of the old school gaming nostalgia back ya'know?

On another note, improvement is an inevitability. And yes, nothing is perfect, but your work is pretty damn good.

For coloring, I would work on making sure your shading is a bit cleaner. Personally I think that this vid: [link] is the most helpful coloring tutorial for photoshop users. I think I may have sent you the link before. Another method is described in this tutorial: [link] but I think it can be overly confusing at times in it's wording.

I would still check out Simplified Anatomy for the comic book artist anyway, it's only $20 or you can probably find it for free on scribd. I like it because it's much easier to learn from than other anatomy books.




Yea, I can understand that. I don't really like the new halo games but I find myself going back to play the 1st one alot. Or Mario 64, I remember when it came out I wasted hours upon hours at my friend's house just waiting for the chance to do nothing more than run around in circles. I suppose nostalgia is the reason why Street Fighter 4 is so popular, the only thing it has improved since the old ones is the graphics but that's why people like it. It has the same basics as the originals, unlike alot of other series (Mortal Combat most notably).

im fuck around with that "painterly" (is that a word?) technique and see what comes of that, iv been in a hell of an artist block lately and i cant draw anything so maybe some practice with new things will help


and yeah i loved that game, still the #1 best selling game of all time though...which says something
i cant wait for the new king of fighters they are going to use the same graphical style as the new street fighter
